Seido Sushi

4372 W Olive Ave, Glendale, AZ 85302

I Love good sushi. Well, as you may have suspected, I like all kinds of food, as long as it’s Epic! However, Asian food holds a special place in my heart (stomach?) for some reason. I don’t know if it’s because of all the rich, bold flavors that are fused together to make such flavorful dishes or what, but I just love Asian food!

We went to Seido Sushi the other day after running some errands. We found this place pre-Covid, when some friends of ours were down here from WA State. We were hungry and were hoping that it had survived. We were excited when we pulled up and found it still in operation!

My wife is not a big Asian food person, but the one thing she does love is the Chicken / Steak fried rice from Seido Sushi. Usually, if I suggest an Asian restaurant, she’ll tell me that I can go there with my buddies. But when I mention this place, she’s in the car almost before I can get the name out of my mouth! It’s everything you want in a good fried rice. Soft, flavorful, a little salty, and packed with chicken. We always order one to eat at the restaurant and one to take home for her lunch the next day.

For me, I decided to try something new. I ordered their Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and their Kiss of Fire roll. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was soooooo good. I ordered it at a spice level of 2 out of 3. The broth in the ramen was flavorful, full of pork and umami (mushroom) flavors, rich and spicy, with mushrooms, onion, half an egg, and a couple of thin slices of pork on top. I can’t say enough about it and I just had to keep eating it until it was all gone. I highly recommend adding an additional egg to the ramen and next time, I’ll be adding some extra mushrooms and fish cakes (I’ve never had fish cakes, but I’d love to try them). I’d give this ramen 5 stars.

The Kiss of Fire roll was really good and (in case you haven’t noticed a theme here) it was good and spicy. The ingredients were: Shrimp Tempura Roll, Salmon, Lemon, Spicy Mayo, Eel Sauce, Crunch Garlic. It was entertaining to watch him light it up (You can see a video of the Kiss of Fire below) and you could hear it sizzling in the foil, as it heated it. It was a very tasty roll and being warm was a nice touch. Everything was fresh, the rice was perfect, and the presentation was great. 4.3 out of 5 for this roll.

The interior of the restaurant was nothing fancy, but it was clean, plenty of room, and had no funky smells. It was nicely lit, but the one thing that we really enjoyed, my wife especially, was the music. They have Korean music videos streaming on a screen over the bar. The music is quite catchy and I’m sure you’ll catch yourself tapping along to the music, more than once.

Overall, I’m giving this restaurant a score of 4.25, and giving the food a an overall score of 4.75, because there’s always room for improvement. This will be put on our monthly rotation. Give it a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
