So, they have a new menu item at Ajo Al’s…the QuesaBirria tacos! Oh man…they’re good! The tacos look a little light in the photo, but they weren’t, they were well cooked crispy. The Birria to dunk them in was so flavorful. I could have eaten 1/2 a dozen, if they’d have given them to me!
My wife always gets the Carne Asada. Unfortunately, they don’t have just a Carne Asada platter. They have a Carne Asada burrito and tacos, but not just Carne Asada with rice and beans. So we special order it. But it’s still really good and my wife enjoys it.
They do so many things well here. They have the lightest, crispiest chips that I’ve ever had. Their normal salsa is okay, but their spicy salsa is the bomb! It’s soooo good. I’m going to guess that they have some Guajillo peppers in there, maybe some Serranos too. Who knows? All I know, is that I love it! The other thing they do well is the refried beans. They’re soft, well blended, flavorful (you can tell they use real lard) and come with a nice layer of browned cheese on top.
In short, if you’ve got a desire for some good, solid Mexican food, go see the good folks over at Ajo Al’s and make sure you ask for Kenzie as your waitress. She’ll take great care of you.
